September 17th: Bus from Toronto to Barrie and Barrie to Owen Sound

Here's what you've missed... After a couple of nights in Charlottetown PEI, we decided to be bold and take the 19hour bus directly from PEI to Ottawa. It was rediculous but my dad and Linda were nice enough to say they'd pick us up. Sure enough, Linda was waiting for us at the bus station. We had a little trouble with the van, so Dad ended up coming to collect us and take us home. We pretty much crashed and slept through until the next day. Jason was still pretty sick and so he slept for most of the next day (the 18th) and into the night.. I chuckled to myself when I went down to check on him and found him sprawled out on the couch in the basement with a mountain of tissues and a beer. Oh Jason.. So yah.. We slept through the morning half of the 19th, and then managed to watch half of Titanic before it hit 4:30pm. Jason and I went grocery shopping and cooked dinner for Linda and my Dad. It was a nice night and I was sad to say goodbye the next day.
That brings me to now. I left Jason and Sarah at the bus station in Toronto with Drew there to meet us. The plan was to have a couple days rest at home before tackling the western half of Canada. Sarah planned to stay with Drew in Toronto, and Jason in Toronto with his grandmother. I decided to bus it to Owen Sound and see my mom/brother for a couple of nights. We got to Toronto at 2:25pm and I planned to catch the bus to Barrie at 4, but it turns out the bus was leaving at 2:30. Jason managed to run a head and catch the bus for me., at which point i hugged them and was on my way. It was like we'd separated all too soon, and I missed them. I watched as Toronto faded away into urban sprawl... a few cement foundations, some golf course, some cleared land and finally into forest/farmfield. All I could think about was the Lorax as I saw land that was empty but had been plotted out -- parked with the heavy machinery that would soon rip it apart. I'm referencing my journal as I write this, and I've chosen to omit about 4 pages of ranting about how carelessly we're developing and how the earth is raped, scared and rebelling... to summarize... BLAH!
