October 6th: Whitehorse, Yukon

The bus ride from vancouver to whitehorse was 44 hours long. I slept maybe 3 hours and someone stepped on my glasses while I was sleeping and they snapped.. That's the downside out of the way. The positive? On the busride alone, I saw a black bear, a moose, a family of deer, 2 reindeer, some mountain goats and 2 eagles.. It's beautiful up here and brisk, but not too cold.. We checked into the "Bees kneez backpacker hostel" and slept until about 2pm.. then Sarah and I went to see about getting my glasses fixed and went grocery shopping. We're here for 3 more day. I imagine one day we'll pack a picnic lunch and take out some of the bikes provided free by the hostel and do a bike loop. In addition, there is also the chance of a kayaking adventure on the Yukon river. It's from whitehorse to a place called Police Point. It's not to expensive and it would be an amazing experience.. The water is pretty smooth, and you don't have to go as part of a tour which makes it cheaper. We're going to talk it over tonight and see what we want to do. I feel over ambitious but I think it'd be great to try! Sarah is fine and I'm doing well.. even better once I have my glasses back...
