Find the girl squatting upon the rocks
Poking a stick into the lake
Shattering the smooth glass of its surface
As the sun sets beyond the farmers fields
She wears her rubber boots and a warm jacket
Existing seprately from bachelor of arts degrees and wedding plans,
Traffic jams and rent cheques
Look for her and slow yourself to speak to her
A few kind, soft words and an adventerous spirit
Ought to bring her out of her hiding
In a world far too fast for her she belongs in few places:
In the seconds before the sun dips below the highrise apartments
In the crunching of dry leaves beneath your boots
She lives in the smell of the frost in your backyard
The kind that blankets the grass before the world wakes up to go to work
In the flicker of the candle light that reflects from the wide and excitable eyes
Of musicians banging out symphonies of sound on their acoustic guitars
