Last night I was at my inlaws last night for Pikkujoulu ("Little Christmas"). We'd just sung a large selection of Finnish christmas carols and danced around their house in stocking caps when they walked through the front door. He sat down at the piano and she beside him on a stool. They went to TOWN. It was beautiful.
When I started playing violin I practiced for hours everyday. I improved dramatically and joined a chamber orchestra during my last year of high school. I was challenged and my violin teacher pushed me to do better. My lessons ended. I started bowing along in the background at church.
Then I lost my motivation to practice. Then my ability to read sheet music. Then my dexterity. Then my technique.
He is the director of a choir and orchestra-- a very talented musician with an incredible ear. He turned to me and said "Would you like to be able to play again?"
I nodded.
His reply: "We start in January. I will get you in shape."
